Garena's Garena first league (GPL) began in May 2012. It's a professional online gaming tournament that runs for six months and includes over 100 games. The inaugural season of the GPL was an on-line League of Legends tournament with six teams of professional players. These teams represent top players from the respective nations. GPL games as well as commentaries can be streamed on the internet. Fans can stream them via the GPL website. In January 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League an all-women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The event is held monthly and organized in the second half of each month. It aims to encourage participation from groups that are underrepresented and is open to people who self-identify as women. Garena is a non-profit organization that organizes events offline for members who wish to network and get together. Garena hosts the Garena Festivals in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
