Garena's Garena first league (GPL) began in May 2012. It's a professional online gaming tournament that runs for six months and includes over 100 games. The inaugural season of the GPL was an on-line League of Legends tournament with six teams of professional players. These teams represent top players from the respective nations. GPL games as well as commentaries can be streamed on the internet. Fans can stream them via the GPL website. The GPL announced in January 2013 Garena confirmed it was launching the Garena Premier League's season two would begin in January on 4th January. Garena Premier League 2013, which began on 4 January 2013, will include two new teams. One each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. It brings the team count to eight. These teams include AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. In November 2014, the Garena Electronic Sports Stadium, an esports-specific venue has opened located in Neihu District, Taipei. The facility opened in November 2014 at the launch of the League of Legends Masters Series. It's the top LoL Taiwanese in Hong Kong, Taiwanese, as well as the Macau LoL League which is a spin-off of the GPL. In January 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League an all-women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The event is held monthly and organized in the second half of each month. It aims to encourage participation from groups that are underrepresented and is open to people who self-identify as women. Garena is a non-profit organization that organizes events offline for members who wish to network and get together. Garena hosts the Garena Festivals in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
