Audra McDonald is unmatched in her range and the versatility of her talent as actor and singer. Audra McDonald, who won six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was recognized as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. President Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -the nation's most prestigious award for achievements in this field. A luminous singer with an extraordinary gift for dramatic truth telling, Ms. O'Connor is at ease performing on Broadway in addition to the stage for opera as well as on the world of television. McDonald, who was born in Fresno California to a music family, completed her training in classical singing at the New York's Juilliard School. McDonald made her television debut in the Peabody Award-winning CBS show Having Our Say - The Delany Sisters's First Hundred years. Following her appearance with Kathy Bates, Victor Garber and other actors in the highly famous Disney/ABC version of Annie in 1999, McDonald appeared as an recurring role on the NBC show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance of Emma Thompson in Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was written by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to network television began in 2003 when she starred with Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. She first appeared on the show as U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in the year 2009 on CBS's legal comedy The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald returned to her role (now called Liz Reddick) as a season-long regular on The Good Fight on Paramount+ receiving the three Critics Choice Award nominations for her role. The actress is currently a guest on Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
