Awkwafina An American performer and actress, started with a series of rap songs that dealt with issues of race and sexuality. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood following the release of an album of raps. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was via the trumpet. Later, she began hip-hop and classical training. While in college, she focused on her studies. She studied women's studies and journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. She turned her attention to music once she completed her degree. The song My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in 2012. It eventually made it on her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also included songs that were viral such as body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown the city of New York Bitche$. The third track was linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015. This was an additional idea. The singer decided to make acting as a profession after having completed her two previous endeavors, author and musician. Her film credits include films like Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
